By Road:
From London, South East, North West or North East
- Whether travelling from the M1, M40, M42 or M69, follow the signs to the M6.
- Leave the M6 at junction 6 "Spaghetti Junction", following signs for the A38M Aston Expressway.
- Take the A38M Aston Expressway, following signs for the City Centre, come off at the 2nd exit (Dartmouth Circus), following the signs for the Convention Centre.
- Coming off the Aston Expressway at Dartmouth Circus, at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit (i.e. turn right), follow the dual carriageway (Newtown Middleway).
- Carry straight on (along New John Street West) along the dual carriageway, through four sets of traffic lights (includes pelican crossings) to a 2nd roundabout.
- Straight on at the roundabout (2nd exit), past a Repsol petrol station on the right hand side of the dual carriageway, along the dual carriageway, going under the Hockley Flyover to a 3rd roundabout.
- Straight on at the roundabout (1st exit) (Jet petrol station on left) and continue along dual carriageway, past signs for the Jewellery Quarter, over a set of traffic lights at a cross roads, to another roundabout, approach this roundabout in the outside lane.
- At the roundabout, turn right (3rd exit) onto the Dudley Road.
- Continue up the hill to another set of traffic lights, The City Hospital is on the right, on the corner of Western Road.
- Turn right at these traffic lights into Western Road, down Western Road and take the second set of hospital gates on the left.
- The West Midlands Toxicology Laboratory is about 100 yards down the drive on the left hand side, in a single storey building.
From Wales and the South West
- From the M5, come off at junction 3, following signs for Birmingham City Centre
- At the exit roundabout, head off for Birmingham City Centre, A456 and continue for 3 miles
- After 3 miles, take the Outer Ring Road and signs for Winson Green, A4040. Turn left into Barnsley Road, then right into Sandon Road
- Turn left into City Road, and down the City Road for 1 mile to the end of the road where it joins the Dudley Road at a T junction (traffic lights)
- Turn right onto the Dudley Road, towards the City Centre and the City Hospital is 600 yards on the left, past a cross roads (traffic lights)
By Train
- From the station, Birmingham New Street, take the bus
- Nos., 82, 87 and 88. All stop outside the hospital's main entrance
By Bus
11 Birmingham Outer Circle Route. Stops outside the hospital on Aberdeen Street. 979 Birmingham - Wolverhampton. Stops outside the Hospital main entrance 66-66E Birmingham - Soho and Nechells / Sutton Coldfield via Ladywood Stops on Northbrook St. & Summerfield 81 Birmingham - via Hockley.
